A homely house on the western edge of London, close to shops, transport and community groups. Permanent and respite placements.

Cooking together as part of supported living in Uxbridge

Where it is

Uxbridge is the main town of the London Borough of Hillingdon, at the far west of London where the city meets Buckinghamshire. It has a proper town centre with a market, the Chimes shopping centre, and everyday services within walking distance, alongside a good deal of green space in the Colne Valley and along the Grand Union Canal.

Our house here is in a quiet residential area with spacious rooms and a garden, close to amenities, parks and hospitals.

A town you can practise independence in

Much of supported living is learning by doing: catching a bus on your own for the first time, doing a food shop to a budget, going to a class. Uxbridge is a good place for that because everything is close together and the transport is straightforward. It is the terminus of both the Metropolitan and Piccadilly lines, so central London is a single journey, and there is a dense local bus network across Hillingdon.

Brunel University's presence also means the town has a younger, busier feel than much of outer London, with cafés, sport and events that are genuinely open to everyone.

Activities are not filler. Cooking, shopping, exercise, day centres and holidays are all part of the support here, and they are chosen because they build skills and confidence rather than to pass the time. What that looks like in practice is set out on our supported living page.

Support available

Help with moving in and maintaining the home, benefits and money management, planning daily routines, accessing education, training or employment, attending health appointments, building friendships and community connections, developing independent living skills, and understanding rights and responsibilities. We also provide 24/7 nurse-led residential care where somebody needs that level of support.

Questions families ask

Is there a garden?

Yes. All three of our homes have gardens, and they get used.

Can somebody move here from another borough?

Yes, though funding usually stays with the placing local authority. If a social worker is involved, put us in touch and we will work it through with them.

Do you take respite placements in Uxbridge?

Yes, both permanent and respite. Call to check current availability.
